An easy to make, delicious side dish, sukha aloo is highly popular in Indian households. This recipe makes use of the best that makes sukha aloo great while being simple to cook. Enjoy!

Ingredients :

  • 5-6 potatoes washed, stripped (peeled while leaving some of the skin on), and chopped in 2/3 inch cubes
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Garni Whole Cumin Seeds
  • A pinch of Garni Power Hing
  • 3/4 teaspoon Garni Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garni Coriander Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garni Aamchur Powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions :

  • Boil potatoes for 6-8 minutes until they are just softened.
  • Heat oil in a skillet or large sauce pan over medium. Add the cumin or mustard seeds (hing if you have it) and let them sizzle for 30 seconds.
  • Add all the spices and the potatoes. Stir fry gently for 1-2 minutes. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes. Uncover and stir for another 60 seconds before removing to serve.
